Giles studied Sport & Exercise Sciences at both college and university. During his time at Exeter University he was selected for a placement with the strength & conditioning team where his coaching journey began.
Giles went on to complete his Level 3 personal trainer qualification to expand his future coaching opportunities in the work place. He found an interest in sports performance which led to a season-long internship with The Cornish Pirates rugby union team who compete in the English Championship.
Simultaneously, Giles was working within the Exeter Chiefs rugby academy based from Truro College and also as a personal trainer in a local gym. These experiences allowed him to gain a vast amount of experience on the coaching floor, working in high performance environments and also begin to develop his philosophies as a coach.
From January 2021 Giles was working at Wasps Rugby as a Pathway Strength & Conditioning Coach involved with all planning and delivery of athletic development across the academy pathway to the senior environments.
This position led Giles to an opportunity to take the role as Lead Pathway Strength & Conditioning Coach for the RFU Central Midlands Academy, leading on all long-term athletic development for the academy set up.
These roles gave Giles an understanding in periodization, programming and delivery of strength & conditioning provision in training for development and performance.
